One Man's Part
More new content, you lucky things, you.

Well, this update might (read: won’t) actually get read because I now have followers! Admittedly they are friends of mine, and there’s only two thusfar, but everything starts somewhere…

The film-making group of which I am the head producer and writer now has a Youtube page with all the films we’ve made. They’ll also be in the Films section of our site. One of the most interesting things which arises from this is the fact that there will now be two more films which I’ve taken part in making, The Outbreak, whose script has been up on this page for some while, and the long awaited (by me) Half Jack! Now this latest film (in glorious HD!) is online, the script for it can be found in the Scripts area.

I’ve also been writing what I’m pretty sure constitutes a metric fucktonne of poetry recently, so expect some more of that, once it’s all been through a couple more drafts. Anyway, enjoy the films, and feel free to tell me what you think of them in the comments section!

Update, with (a small amount of) NEW CONTENT!

So, a fair bit’s gone on recently. I’ve now seen a preview of Half-Jack and its ‘public’ premiere is looming, after which it will hopefully go online and I can stick it on here. I’ve also been trying to do Script Frenzy, but my university exams are next month, and with that and other things iIve been distracted, and have only managed about 20 pages thus far. Still, there’s a week left to go.

The NEW CONTENT is a poem which I really enjoyed writing, and ended up quite proud of. Still, you can make your mind up for yourself!

Cenobyte Hard-Drive

A blue-screened nightmare,

Electrostatic discharge, all without redemption.

‘Knowing how ain’t knowing that,’

I know that, and how.

The mouse’s tale was cut short,

His life, a faint shimmer in a black void.

The rain slicks the cobbled streets,

Whose stones wink and glimmer

In the pale light of an undead moon.

Shoot for the head, they said,

It’s the only way to kill the undead.

If you miss you’ll still be amongst the stars,

On the front page of People magazine,

A useless, hopeless, dreary scene.

Like a man left stranded in a wheelchair with no arms,

No one will be pushing me around.

An emptied ward of fading echoes,

Of patients’ screams and Black and Deckers,

Trepan or not trepan?

That’s not even a question.

Ask a better one.
But don’t ask why.

More Writing

So, I set this blog up to get ‘more writing done’, but because I never actually write for this blog alone, I tend to do the exact same amount of writing as usual, and all that changes is that when the writing is done, I dump it somewhere (i.e. here), and considering I don’t actually have any followers, that probably doesn’t make any difference.

You would think, then, that this would lead to me vowing to post some regular writing up on here, but in fact you (my imaginary reader) would be wrong. While that’s the logical conclusion to come to from what i’ve written above, i’m already motivating myself to write in a different way. I’ve joined this year’s Script Frenzy, which means that by the end of April 2012, I should have produced a 100 page script (which will, if completed, be my longest script yet!).

Alongside this somewhat ambitious project, I’m also writing a new comedic short film to make with HoFS, but i’m not using that in Script Frenzy because A) I don’t want it to be 100 pages long B) I’ve already started it and C) It’s a script idea I actually quite like, and I want to give it the careful consideration its due, rather than just hurning out pure volume..

Also, Half-Jack has been filmed and is now in post-production. The rough cut ran at nearly 8 minutes, making it our longest production to date, and it looks promising from what i’ve seen (James is extremely secretive about his work in post). There’s still no news on the stand-up front, unfortunately, but i’ll pester James once he’s done on Half-Jack. Also, i’m going to put one of my films right here, on the front page, so that people don’t get bored by the fact that the homepage is just a boring wall of text.

The Long Awaited Update

I must confess, I realise how unlikely it is that anyone besides myself regularly views this page. Still, I installed a view-counter and I’m now over 100 views, which is something. So thank you all, my 100 viewers, and I hope your days, or indeed lives, have not been ruined by my recent silence. I realise how very important I most certainly am to each and every one of you, and can only imagine the kind of intense grief and frustration you have been suffering due to my absence. Where else could you turn for the irrelevant scribblings of a misguided university student? I can only apologise for my neglect; it’s not you, it’s me.

In my absence, I have written and begun shooting a new short film called Half-Jack, which explores themes of relationships, identity and the class system here in the UK. Hopefully it will turn out as well as I’ve envisioned in my more optimistic moments, but regardless of how it ends up, the process of writing, producing and making films is both enjoyable and valuable. Soon enough i’m sure you, one of the Lucky 100 will be able to watch it and decide for yourself.

I also wrote and performed about 10 minutes of standup comedy recently, which a friend recorded (although due to mic troubles, the only audio we got was that of my mic, so you’ll miss the uproarious laughter which definitely accompanied my jokes and which I have not, in any way, made up just now), so expect that to crop up in the Misc section once he’s synced the audio and visual on the video and I remember to get it off him.

Here’s to more content and more viewers, eh?

As and When New Content Hits

Don’t say I didn’t warn you…

There are now several ‘fun and exciting’ (-your mileage may vary) content-filled sections to the site!

If you want to see how the films began; look at an empty screen. However, if you’d like to see them as they were once I’d actually written them, check out the scripts section.

If you think you have a strong enough constitution, head over to the poetry section and see the poems I’ve written that don’t make me want to crawl into a hole and die.

Finally if you’re a rebellious sort and don’t want to be ‘boxed in’ by helpful descriptions of what you’re about to view, try the misc section and stick it to ‘the man’. That’ll teach society to delineate between different media in a way which allows us to make informed decisions.

Row row fight tha powah!

Hello World

And with a horrible programming ‘joke’, it begins.

This page will hopefully serve as an archive for all the creative content i’m involved with, so fingers crossed it might one day actually see some content (I hope to god for the sake of my desire to be a writer that this happens…)

At the moment, the only part of it with any content is the ‘Films’ section which has 2 of the 3 short films I’ve helped make as part of Homerton Filmmaking Society, so be sure to check that out, but I will keep you, my imaginary audience, updated as and when new content hits.

The next things to be expected are the third of the three films and the scripts for all three, so you can actually see the writing I did.

Cave Johnson; we’re done here.
